Editing Services Offered
The process of editing a manuscript is something I seek to simplify, and demystify. Many editors offer a myriad of narrowly focused services that only seem to confuse someone merely looking for a bit of help in streamlining, or refining their manuscript.
Most of my clients typically need a combination of some copyediting, line editing, and a bit of content editing. This is what I call the Writer’s Edit (or as some of my past clients liked to call it, the “Trent Edit”) — which is the main editing service that I offer.
The Writer’s Edit consists of:
- A light copyedit (to catch typos, and other errors of grammar or syntax).
- A line edit (addresses sentence structure, flow, and word choice as well as things like continuity errors).
- Some content editing (noting errors of story structure, plot holes, logic errors, and ways the story might be improved/refined).
- Comments on all are provided via both inline corrections and comments, and a summary of my thoughts on the story.
Rate: $0.02/word (2 cents per word)
Payment Method: PayPal only, at this time

Other Services
Do you also offer content editing, line editing, copyediting, or even proofreading individually?
Certainly! I can provide the following editing services à la carte (on their own):
- Copyediting
- Line Editing
- Content Editing
- Proofreading
If that’s what you’re after (and please note that prices will vary, depending on the specific service), please inquire via my Contact Form. I’ll be happy to assist you.
Do you also offer editing services to publishers?
Yes! I have worked with publishers before on a subcontract basis, and would consider an offer to do so again. If you find yourself with demand that exceeds your in-house editing capacity, I can help.
Please feel free to reach out to me via the Contact Form to discuss time frames, potential manuscript volume, and bulk rate discounts.
A Final Word
I believe that with the proper knowledge, virtually anyone can learn to be a proficient writer, one who is able to consistently produce a very clean first draft.
Because of this, my goal is to “work myself out of a job.” With my edits, I aim to not only help you improve on your manuscript, but also (and I’d argue even more importantly) help you become more skilled as a writer.
At that point, now fully informed as to the work that’s really required to bring a manuscript up to publishable form, you can make the best decision for yourself regarding whether you’d like to edit it on your own — or enlist the help of someone like me instead.
