It’s That Time Again! Skye Warren’s Wet and Wild Blog Hop!

May 19, 2013 By Trent Evans

3556930

I love this time of year, and not just because of this hop (though I’ve got to admit this hop is rad). This is the time of possibilities, of anticipation, of the excitement of what’s to come.

Following along with that theme of possibilities, a question came to me as I perused the rather impressive list of names involved in this year’s hop: where are the dudes?

Now, I know that few men seem to write in the genres represented on the list for this hop, but I know for a fact that I’m not the only male erotica and erotic romance author out there. Are male authors of erotica or erotic romance truly that rare?

I note this not to be self-serving, but rather to pose a few follow-up questions to you:

— Would you consider purchasing and reading erotica written by a male author?

— What about erotic romance?

— Do you feel as if male authors too often don’t get things “quite right”? Be honest — I can take it!

Now on to the good stuff;)

This hop is loaded up this year (check out the prizes shown below):

4193873

But there’s more:) …

Any live person (bots, you don’t count) who leaves a comment on this post, along with their e-mail address — which is needed strictly for notification of winners — will be entered into a drawing for an electronic copy of any one Trent Evans book.

Now, although I said only one book, sometimes I slip up and give away a book to more than one person — accidents do happen:) — so make sure to get your entries in!

Please be sure to hit all the other stops on the hop too (see the list below). There is a wealth of talent on this list, and you are sure to find enough great new books to double the height of Mount To-Be-Read 🙂

Happy Reading and thanks for visiting!

Best,

Trent

About Trent Evans

Trent Evans is an independent author of BDSM erotic romance and erotica. Putting pen to paper since he was a wee lad, he decided to try to share some of the tales cooked up in his fevered imagination. Some readers might not be horrified. He tries to write stories that appeal to both women and men (wow, threading the needle), but will follow wherever the story takes him.

A long-time resident of the Pacific Northwest, the author believes that the high percentage of authors in the region (compared to the nation as a whole) is chiefly due to the fact that it’s so damned wet and miserable all the time there. They tend to use their long hours cooped up inside making up stories that depict things they’ll never see or experience – such as sunshine.

Kristi, I’ve heard that too, and since I’m a dude, it’s hard for me to really perceive it in myself. What kind of differences do you notice?

I think you grasp the level of power much better. I think some female writers don’t give the right struggle between the sexes. You know what you are capable of and use it. I like that alot. your intensity in your punishment makes me so wet. I am always waiting for more from you. And you deliver every time. Thank you.

I’ve bought your books before (others as well), so yes, I do buy books from male authors. I don’t know about getting things right or not. Men think differently than women so the sex scenes are usually different. I’ve found that in general (but not always) male authors tend to be more graphic.

      Hi Kelsey,

Yep, everything is so subjective, isn’t it? Personally, if I find it hot, I find it hot — no matter who wrote it.

Thanks for taking a chance on my books:)

I do hesitate to purchase erotic books written by men. Years ago I did and found that most were just about sex, I want a story in my erotica. That experience has influenced my author preference to female. I am open to trying a male erotic author if the story interests me.

They usually are a bit different than ones that are written by females but I love them!

Honestly i haven’t seen to many erotic books by men. You’re probably the first I’ve seen, I added some of your books to my to-read list after visiting Romancing the Kink and have to say they sound very interesting. I think that men look at sex differently so they might write about differently but as long as the story is told well then I don’t have a problem with it; after all its all about being entertained.

I don’t think it matters if it is a male or female author… It all depends on how well the story is written… i would buy a book written by a monkey if it has a good plot and characters 🙂

I’d probably go out of my way to read erotica and erotic romance written by a male author because it’s not that common — and I guess the way to “get it right” is to be honest in your POV–I’ve read books that have inspired eyerolls because all I could think was, “Guys SO don’t think like that!”, and I’d be intrigued to read a book written from inside a guys head….lol

    Thanks for the amazing giveaway!

To be honest, the only books I have read by a male was historical romance and only then because I didn’t know it was a guy writing! Those damn initials! 😉 And I have read a couple erotica, but they never have a plot line, it’s really more sex from the guy’s perspective that is the whole story.
