Hello all,
I know it’s been a long time since I’ve posted, so I thought now might be a good time to update you on what’s been happening.
First, I want to apologize to my readers for the long delay in getting a new book out. I managed to get myself sick for the better part of a month, and it’s really set me back production-wise in a way I’ve never experienced in over four years of publishing. I do expect to be back to 100% soon, but it’s been slow going. Such is life:)
Secondly, I want to apologize specifically to my readers on Amazon who purchased the preorder for Quinton’s Crucible. Unfortunately, I was forced to cancel that preorder today. You will receive a notification from Amazon shortly, noting that your preorder purchase has been canceled.
Preorders for Quinton’s Crucible are still active at all the other retailers though (with a publication date of May 25th). Here’s why: if an author finds that they need to reschedule the publication date more than once, Amazon’s (IMHO) overly rigid preorder rules make that impossible to do. The other retailers allow full flexibility with regard to rescheduling release dates for preorders.
As a result, since I could not reschedule the Amazon release to the date I needed, I was forced to cancel it altogether. This is not to place blame on Amazon here (it’s their system, and as the author, producing the book on time is ultimately on me), rather I wanted to include this to make sure everyone understands why the preorder was canceled only on Amazon.
There were good reasons for rescheduling the publication date. Quinton’s Crucible is the most psychologically complex book of any I’ve written to date, and as such, it’s required a lot more percolation time than I’d planned in order to make sure I’ve got all the motivations and characterization right.
The other reason, and the one that’s most important to me, is that I wanted to be able to deliver the best book I could write, one the readers would enjoy. Rushing to meet the preorder date here would have produced a book I wouldn’t feel was the best version of this story.
That’s not fair to you, the readers.
So, I hope you’ll forgive me. If you stick with me, I promise the wait will be worth it:)
I’ve got many other exciting projects in the pipeline, and I can’t wait to share the details of them with you soon!
Until next time.
Trent
Glad you’re back in the swing of things, and so sorry you’ve not been well. Keep on keeping on! We love you and your wicked ways.

Thank you for being so understanding (and for the nice compliment), Maggie:) I’ll be back to normal soon.
So sorry to hear you were sick. Glad you are getting back into the swing of things. 🙂
Thanks, Addy!
Feel better! Please let me know when we can reorder on Amazon. Looking forward to reading!
Thank you, Ann:) At this point, it looks like it may not be available on Amazon until sometime around mid-May. I’m trying for the 15th, but it’s not a sure thing. I’ll definitely post again when it’s live on Amazon (and I’ll try to give some warning when I’ve narrowed down the target publication date too).
So sorry to hear you’ve been sick. Hope you’re feeling in the pink soon! Glad to hear that Quinton’s Crucible is receiving your full dose of TLC though — good things are always worth the wait 😉
Thanks, Willow!
I’m so sorry to hear you were ill for so long, but I am happy to know you’re back behind the desk. To spin it a bit…maybe that time away from the work helped sort the psychological twists and turns you were going for in Quinton’s Crucible. Hey, you never know. A little rest and recharge goes a long way…in many ways. 🙂 Don’t rush. We’ll wait.
I like the way you think, Arla:) I do hope the wait will indeed be worth it for readers. We shall see…
Hi Trent,
I was all set to write you to tell you how desperately I need your next book and tell you how bad my withdrawal symptoms were. Then I read you’ve been ill. So no kidding now, I hope you’re on the mend. Just know lots of us care about you, as well as about your books. You’re the Alpha writer for me and many others. I’ll just sit quietly(with wet panties) and reread every book you’ve written until Quinton’s story is ready.
Well… my day just took a turn for the better. What a wonderful thing to say! I am well again and back at it — and writing as fast as I can.
With luck, it will prove to be worth the delay. I shall do my best:)
