It’s That Time Again! Skye Warren’s Wet and Wild Blog Hop!

I love this time of year, and not just because of this hop (though I’ve got to admit this hop is rad). This is the time of possibilities, of anticipation, of the excitement of what’s to come.

Following along with that theme of possibilities, a question came to me as I perused the rather impressive list of names involved in this year’s hop: where are the dudes?

Now, I know that few men seem to write in the genres represented on the list for this hop, but I know for a fact that I’m not the only male erotica and erotic romance author out there. Are male authors of erotica or erotic romance truly that rare?

New Release — “What She’s Looking For” — Trent Evans

Finally, it’s here! I thought it might end me a few times, but the new book “What She’s Looking For” has been published. Per the normal release schedule, the first 90 days will be Amazon exclusive, followed by a roll-out to the other retailers.

I’ve done a few things with this one that I haven’t done before. This is my first official erotic romance, and it’s by far (at over 100K words) the longest book I’ve ever written. Guest Post — New Release: Taming Emma by Natasha Knight

Hi Trent, thanks so much for having me here today. I love your blog, I love your books and as you know, I’m thrilled about working with you on Romancing The Kink.

I just want to say a few words before getting to the excerpt for Taming Emma. As I was writing this book, the idea of a man who could  give pain became so intriguing to me that I couldn’t stop thinking about it for a long time. Still haven’t really. For some reason, to me, it exemplifies complete strength or power. I don’t really understand this so well just yet, but in the writing of Luke, this aspect of things developed a little bit. I feel like I just barely scratched the surface but that’s how my mind works I suppose. Slow for a little while before diving in deep, head first.

 This excerpt comes toward the end of the book when Emma’s run off after Luke’s confronted her with her past. They need each other but are struggling with their separate demons. In his scene, Luke has told Emma he wants to see her, all of her. But she knows the only way she’ll be able to allow that is if he makes her.

Emma had always been interested in exploring the world of BDSM, and given her desperate circumstances, this sounded like the perfect opportunity. One weekend of complete submission to the highest bidder among a select group of wealthy men, and her financial troubles would be over. Emma wasn’t really sure what to expect when she agreed to the deal, but one thing she definitely did not expect was Luke Roark.

Now it was his turn to study her. She kept her gaze level with his. This was what she wanted, what she needed. For a moment, she wasn’t sure he would give it to her but then, his expression changed. He decided and every hair on her body stood on end in response.

He straightened to his full height, his eyes a little harder now. She watched him strip off his shirt and set it aside. He moved to the large trunk against the wall, opened it and returned a few moments later, riding crop in hand.

“Stand up.”

She heard her own heartbeat while she rose slowly to her feet. He was going to give her just what she asked for. His hand tighten around the crop while she watched. Her eyes grew wide when he tapped it against his leg and when she turned her gaze to his, it took all she had not to step back.

“You’re pale,” he said, touching her face.

“You like this,” she replied, forcing herself to remain still as he brushed her hair over her shoulders.

“Very much.” He brought his lips to hers and his free hand first caressed, then pinched one of her nipples.

She made no sound but her body trembled, her mouth opening to receive him.

He didn’t pull her nearer but only kissed and she knew he was taking pleasure. This was for him, only the punishment would be for her.

“Tell me,” he whispered against her mouth, still kissing her, still holding her to him. “How many strokes before you cry, Emma?”

She made a sound, her body wanting him, wanting what he was going to give her, even as it feared the pain.

“I’m going to give you exactly what you asked for,” he said, walking her toward the bed.

“Please,” she said when she felt the iron of the footboard against her back.

“Please what?” he asked, caressing her thigh with the crop.

“Please…Master,” she said.

“Oh, you’re a good girl, Emma. You’re my good girl. Now,” he pulled back. “Turn around,” he stepped back, giving her just enough space so she could turn.

She did, placing her hands on the cool metal.

“Down you go, rest your chest on the bed, arms overhead. Good girl, that’s right. Spread your legs wide for me.”

She didn’t look back as she settled her torso on the bed and extended her arms over her head. She’d asked for this. She spread her legs wide, imagining herself spread before him, ready for him. The weight of stiff leather made her shudder when he set the crop across her back and moved around the bed. She watched him unravel the long straps that were attached to each corner of the bed and wound them around her wrists, first the right, then the left. He then tugged and adjusted their length, lifting her just a little higher so that the footboard carried most of her weight and only the tips of her toes touched ground. She closed her legs a little, adjusting to the new position, but he came behind her and before she knew it, her ankles too were bound by similar straps, spreading her wide open. When he was finished, she watched him set a large mirror on the wall just in front of the bed. He positioned it so that she could see herself completely. Meeting her eyes in the mirror, he smiled, pleased.

When he stepped behind her, she felt, for one instant, panic. She tugged at her bonds but neither those at her wrists nor those at her ankles gave. They held her firm, her body now an offering as he lifted the leather from her back.

“How many until you cry?” he asked, his eyes on her wide spread bottom.

She tugged again, his voice sounding too different. “Master!” she called, needing him back. Needing Luke.

His eyes in the mirror looked darker, aroused definitely, but also something else.

“I want to give you pain, Emma,” he whispered.

What’s Coming Up? Changes on the way for Trent

I’d meant to post this earlier this year, but alas, real life threw a huge stick in the spokes:(

I’m just now getting back to writing (and blogging) more or less regularly so I thought I’d write a quick update on some plans and coming attractions. In no particular order:

TrentEvansLetters is moving

Well, not really moving per se, but rather changing over to a .com domain. I’ll have more flexibility to improve the blog/website this way, and I’ll have more control over how the content is handled as well as security. I still haven’t figured out how I’m going to migrate everyone over yet, but when I do, I’ll let everyone know:)

New Group Blog

My friends and colleagues, authors Sheri Savill and Natasha Knight have agreed to join with me in creating a new group blog/website called Romancing The Kink. I’m really honored to share a blog with these two ladies. They’re not only great writers, but cool people, and they both bring fresh, unique perspectives to BDSM fiction, as well as kink in general.

We have some ambitious plans for this thing and it’s just getting off the ground now. What we have envisioned for RTK is a place that both readers and authors can go to be entertained, informed, and erm, aroused. Can we pull all three of those off? Who the eff knows, but we’re sure as hell going to be trying!

I do plan to continue blogging at TrentEvansLetters.com, but I’ll also be posting some content at RTK that will be exclusive to that site — including a serialized, rather dark BDSM erotica story called Her Troika —  so I highly recommend heading over there to check it out too!

30 Days of Kink — Day 18

Day 18: Any kinky/BDSM pet peeves? If so, what are they?

Hmm, pet peeves. I’m not sure I’ve got anything that really irritates me per se, but there are a few things I see here and there that make me chuckle or shake my head.  Here they are in no particular order:

— Use of the verb “dominate” as a noun (presumably the person means a “Dominant” — e.g. “He’s a sexual Dominant.”). I see this all the time, but I assume most of the time that it’s simply a typo …

— Authors — or just people in general — who maintain that there is only one way (or their way) to do any number of kink activities. Kink is as varied as the people who practice it;  as long as it’s consensual, and all parties involved are enjoying it, there is no “wrong” way IMO. I accept and celebrate that diversity:)

— The mistaken impression that a BDSM author is somehow an expert or an authority on kink. While many BDSM authors are quite well-informed, and a significant number (including myself) self-identify as kinky, it does not make us experts. Most everything comes down to opinion, really. I do my very best with questions, but I’ve — more than once — found myself having to answer questions with “I’m not qualified to give you an opinion.” While I’d love to know the answer to every kink question, sometimes I just have to punt!

— The attempt to mainstream or homogenize kink in fiction makes me chuckle. At some point smoothing the rough/sharp edges renders “kink lite” to be unrecognizable as kink at all. That said, considering what I wrote about in point #2 … vive la différence!

I think that’s about it. I try not to get too worked up about things regarding kink (a change from my younger days), but I’m sure once I post this I’ll think of something I should’ve added:)

Dear Lord, it’s been waayyy too long since I’ve had a new release! If any of you writers out there want to build a career, and you know, actually sell books … don’t do what Trent just did and let almost 7 months elapse between releases.

So, I’ve almost wrapped up my newest book, an erotic romance titled “What She’s Looking For”. This is a BDSM menage (MFM) book, and it clocks in at just under 100K words — by far my longest book published. There are a lot of firsts with this one: my first full length novel, my first Menage, and my first erotic romance. It remains to be seen whether or not I can pull this off, but I hope you’ll give it a chance:)

I’m looking at a release date of somewhere around April 15th for the e-book, with a print version to follow toward the the end of April. The initial release will be through Amazon only for the first 90 days, followed by a roll-out to the other retailers thereafter.

Prologue

There was one serious drawback to being owned by two men. It was exhausting.

Morning sun poured over both of them, warming her skin, her body entwined with, surrounded by Parker’s big body. Still fast asleep, his chest rising and falling slowly, his arm draped possessively over her, a strong hand holding the weight of her breast.

Loathe to deprive herself of the heat of his body, the comfort of his embrace, Ashley knew what her instructions were. She knew the rules. Sunny Sunday morning or not, she had duties to perform, another Master to obey.

Saturdays were for Parker, but Sundays were for Drake.

Extricating herself from Parker’s heavy arm, she pressed her soft lips to his chest, marveling anew at the lean musculature, the barely leashed power in that male body. Moving awakened the pleasant ache of the stripes decorating the curves of her ass, her right hip particularly sore from the way Parker had allowed his strap to “wrap” the night before.

He liked the bruises that were the aftermath of her regular Saturday appointment with his strap — and truth be told, so did she. She took a moment to take in that tall, beautiful male body tangled from the waist down in the white bed sheets, then slipped off the bed, padding her way to the door and down the long, shadowed hallway that the morning light could not reach.

The shower mustn’t be long, for she knew Drake might awaken at any minute — and woe betide the slave girl who wasn’t present when he did.

Fresh, long, dark hair still wet, she put her cuffs on at ankle and wrist, the black leather a firm, comforting reminder of their control of her. Easing the door to Drake’s bedroom open, she found her usual spot; fortunately for her it was squarely within a rectangle of brilliant morning sunshine across the carpet.

Remembering her routine had been difficult at first, and punishments invariably followed when she’d failed, punishments she’d relished and dreaded in equal measure. But now it was as familiar as an old pair of shoes, her instructions, the roadmap for her life as a slave.

You will be clean for your Master.

 

You will be awake before your Master.

 

You will be ready for whatever he wants, whenever he wants.

 

You will obey.

Crouching on the carpet, she waited. Her breasts brushed against her thighs, the cool morning air, and the moisture evaporating on her skin rendering her long nipples into aching, hard bullets. How she’d pleaded for that release, that deliverance, as they tormented her further, their hands, their cocks, their words, drawing her down further into that inescapable vortex of lust, pain, and surrender.

Drake, the dark Master of her Sundays, stirred behind her, and at the trembling of her body, she smiled.

Soon, it would begin again…
